First purchase check list

First purchase check list

Buying a ring online can be a little more complex than in a shop, the main reason is that you can't put it on.. thus the size might be a bit off or the look might be different, the main aim of this post is to make sure you're ready for buying a ring online.

Size:

There are several methods for getting your finger sized correctly, first and best would be going to get measured at a jewelry shop (best in the afternoon-evening when fingers are at their largest and stable size), jewelry shops would usually do that for free.

You can use this digital tool: Link

Another option is using a finger sizer like in the photo:

The one on the right is like a zip tie which gets tighten around your finger until comfortable and an arrow indicates your size, the one on the left is a set of rings with numbers on them, the one that is the most comfortable is your size (-number indicates half size: -8 is 8.5). Both can be bought from eBay for a few dollars.

It is extremely important that you don't get your size by improvised homemade methods (using a string and a ruler to measure your finger circumference), they are highly inaccurate. Check out this link to see how a small difference in the inside circumference results in a large difference in size.

*Note that I am working with US sizes as they are the most common but let me know if you have your size by a different measurement.

Width:

There isn't much to talk about width, just keep in mind that wider rings are snugger and thinner are looser.

Care instructions:

Before buying a ring it's important that you are aware of its care instructions, some rings are highly durable and can and will withstand almost everything (I don't remove my carbon rings even when going to the beach or even surfing), however, some rings are more delicate, my bentwood rings are made waterproof and they are strong as well but I do recommend removing them when swimming, washing dishes etc. this will make sure their coating keeps its nice shine.

The look of the ring:

All photos in my shop are not edited in a way that makes a ring look different and are checked Vs. the real ring they represent so that they are as similar as possible to it.

Now you're ready for buying a ring online!

However, if you have any further questions feel free to contact me, I am more than happy to help!
